Healing Practice in the Name of the Holy Father, Holy Son Jesus, and Holy Spirit
In this article, we present a practical healing practice that each person could use in faith at home or in the church. This healing practice has some procedural steps, and the person in need of healing must have faith that this practice is for them. We encourage everyone in need of healing to pray and ask for guidance from the Holy Spirit before using this practice.
Good Healing Practice through the Oil Anointing for Family Practice
Healing in the church after the death on the cross of the beloved Son of God is done by the mercy of the Father in the name of Jesus Christ, His beloved Son, and by the Holy Spirit through the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
“13Is anyone among you enduring affliction? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praises. 14Is anyone among you sick? Let him summon the elders of the congregation; and let them pray over him, anointing him with olive oil in the name of the Lord; 15and the prayer of faith will heal the one ailing, and the Lord will raise him up; and if he has committed sins, it will be forgiven him. 16Confess therefore the sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be supernaturally healed. The supplication of a righteous one avails much in its working. … James 5:13-16 (ASVh)…
Preparation of the oil for anointing of a sick person
The anointing oil preparation must be done by an elder or a servant of the Lord (pastor). The elder could be the elder of a congregation, or in a family could be the eldest person. The oil for the anointing must be prepared into a clay cup (earthenware cup). You can purchase a clay cup, or the best is to make yourself a small cup (about one teaspoon capacity) by hand using clay which you bake or sun dry. Pour a small amount of olive oil (hand press, virgin oil) into the clay cup. Put the cup with oil in front of you, kneel, and pray over the oil. The prayer you pray should start with the Lord’s Prayer from the Gospel of Matthew 6:9-13 (you can use your preferred Bible version).
“9Our Father in the heavens, Hallowed be Thy name.
10Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done, as in heaven, also upon earth.
11Give us today our daily bread.
12And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil. For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen.” …Matthew 6:9-13…
While you are praying the Lord’s prayer, continuously make cross signs over the oil. Then continue with the prayer in the following manner: “Holy Father, Holy Son Jesus, Holy Spirit, Holy Trinity, I come to you in the name of the Lord Jesus, who died on the cross for our sins and who carried all our sins and diseases on that cross and I ask your mercy to send your Holy Spirit to anoint this oil for the anointing of healing” … and you can continue if you like in this manner.
Prayer for the Healing of a Sick Person by Oil Anointing
The people involved in the prayer should gather around the sick person. The person asking for the healing prayer should come with faith, and as the passage in James says, they should confess their sins to one another before the Lord before the prayer starts.
The person that needs the prayer should kneel, and the people praying should circle the person. The elder, or the servant of the Lord that prepared the oil, will perform first the anointing ceremony; and then all other people gathered can join in the prayer of healing. The people that pray should put their hands above his head without touching the head or the parts of the body they pray for healing.
Oil Anointing Ceremony
The oil anointing ceremony is performed by the elder or by a servant of the Lord and is done in three steps. First, the anointing person will recite the Lord’s prayer, then dip his finger in the anointing oil and lightly (do not press hard) make the cross sign on the forehead of the sick person while saying, “I anoint you with the oil of healing in the name of the Holy Father, Holy Son Jesus, and of the Holy Spirit”.
Second, the anointing person will recite the Lord’s prayer, then dip his finger in the anointing oil and lightly (do not press hard) make the cross sign on the heart (on the chest directly on the skin, close to heart, middle of the chest to the left a bit) of the sick person while saying, “I anoint you with the oil of healing in the name of the Holy Father, Holy Son Jesus, and of the Holy Spirit”.
Thirdly, the anointing person will recite the Lord’s prayer, then dip his finger in the anointing oil and lightly (do not press hard) make the cross sign on the ailing part of the body of the sick person while saying, “I anoint you with the oil of healing in the name of the Holy Father, Holy Son Jesus, and of the Holy Spirit”.
Prayer for the Healing
After the oil anointing ceremony, all people should gather around the sick person, and recite the Lord’s prayer, and start praying together with their voices loud, and ask for the mercy of the Father in the name of the Lord Jesus, to touch the sick with His Holy Spirit and heal the person. People should not restrain from praying in tongues and uttering prophecies given by the Holy Spirit during the prayer session. The Holy Spirit will work the healing gift through whoever person He chooses. The sick person should feel touched by the Holy Spirit if the healing happens, either by speaking in tongues or feeling touched in the body and heart.
This prayer can continue as long as necessary.
At the end of the healing prayer, the person prayed for should consume the leftover oil, and the empty clay cup should be buried in the ground.
