Romans 5

Summary. In this chapter, the Holy Spirit, speaking through the apostle Paul, tells us that we are all sinners and that the only way to be reconciled with God the Father, find forgiveness and peace, and gain eternal life for our souls is through the grace of the beloved Son of God, Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus was the perfect, sinless Lamb who, through His sacrifice on the cross, paid for the sins of the whole world. For any soul who has faith in Him, God the Father grants mercy, seeing them as covered by the precious blood of the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1-11. Reconciliation with God the Father comes only through His Son, Jesus Christ. The sins of human soul block forgiveness and peace with God the Father. But the Lord God Almighty has mercy for every soul and has provided the path for salvation for all. Through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, we gain access to His grace. To be saved from all sins through both actions and the heart, one needs the pure blood of the beloved Son of God. When this Holy Blood covers a soul, its sins are also covered, and God’s wrath is averted. Romans 5:12-17. The life of the soul comes only through the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord God Almighty does not blame the rest of humanity because of the sin of a person, but not all the hearts of people accept the truth. With great mercy, God the Father gives all humans a way to be saved, and only through this way can human souls receive mercy. He has sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to come down to be the perfect sacrifice offering to glorify the Father instead of all human souls. The beloved Son of God carried the sins of the whole world, which gives all human souls a chance to reign in life through Him. Romans 5:18-21. Grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life through the Lord Jesus Christ. The disobedience of one mind had led the disease of disobedience to spread to many minds. When the souls commit sin against the Trinity of God, that sin gives no room for the Lord God Almighty to pardon their sin. God the Father, with great mercy and love, provides salvation through the beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The beloved Son’s grace, mercy, and obedience provide the path of righteousness for the soul that comes and is covered with His blood that was shed on the cross.
1 Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;
Comments Romans 5:1 “Therefore, having been justified by faith.” When the true faith occupies the heart and mind, it will also make the person suitable and fit for blessings and work.
“We have peace with God through ...” God the Father loves humans and wants to have peace with humans; because of that, the beloved Son of God, Jesus Christ, has come down to be human. Through the Holy Lamb of God, all humans’ praises will be heard. God the Father receives worship and glorification through the beloved Son of God who is in heaven.
2 through whom also we have access by the faith into this grace in which we stand; and we boast in hope of the glory of God.
Comments Romans 5:2 “Through whom also we have access ...” All humans who abide and follow the teachings of the beloved Son of God have a place to stand in prayer. The voices of praise will reach the ears of God the Father through the beloved Son.
“And we boast in hope of the glory of God.” Hope and peace stay with true believers because the voice of prayer will bring them peace. When the true believer glorifies God the Father through the beloved Son of God’s channel, that person can feel peace and acceptance. The true peace rests upon the souls of the true believers.
3 Now not only, but we also rejoice in the tribulations, knowing that tribulation works endurance;
Comments Romans 5:3 “Now not only, but we also ...” When the heart is full of faith and true belief, regardless of what happens in life, deep down in the soul that acknowledges the existence of the Lord God Almighty, it will accept hardships with joy and gladness, because the heart accepts the will of the Lord God Almighty--and knowing deep in their soul that the Lord God Almighty will lead them to safety and peace at the end.
“Knowing that tribulation ...” The heart that has faith and trust in the Lord God Almighty will give peace and lead the person to follow the guidance because it knows that hardship in the end will bring joy and peace to the soul itself.
4 and endurance, character; and character, hope;
Comments Romans 5:4 “And endurance, character.” That true faith and trust of the person in the Lord God Almighty will help the person develop a good mind and right attitude toward all things that come upon life itself.
“And character, hope.” This true faith brings joy to the soul and leads the soul to have peace; and peace in that soul makes that soul have hope that they are not alone, but the Lord God Almighty is their own true hope to go through all troubles.
5 and hope does not make ashamed; because the love of God has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us.
Comments Romans 5:5 “And hope does not make ashamed.” Humans, put your hope in the Lord God Almighty, not on the things that have been created. When faith and hope are in the right place, shame will not come to your own soul, because in your heart, you know at the end where you will be, and that is the true hope for all human souls.
“Because the love of God has been poured ...” When you have faith and trust in the Lord God Almighty, the gift of the Holy Spirit will be poured out on you. The knowledge that you receive is not man-made knowledge, but it is true knowledge. No human can understand the divinity of the Lord God Almighty without the help of the Holy Spirit, and that knowledge will save your soul. Follow not just by action only, but the Lord God Almighty wants you to follow with your heart and mind. The right way to follow has been given in the Holy Word; use that as the path for the soul to walk in order to have true faith in the Lord God Almighty.
6 For still we were yet weak, in due time Christ died for the ungodly.
Comments Romans 5:6 “For still we were yet weak.” “Weak” here is not physical weak but the spiritual weak. Your soul, being still weak, but when you put true faith in the Lord God Almighty, He will give the strength to your soul, which that soul will pass the strength to the mind and heart of the receiver.
“In due time Christ died for the ungodly.” When your heart is still unfaithful, but the Lord God Almighty has sent His beloved Son of God, Jesus Christ, to die for your soul, because every soul in the eyes of the Lord God Almighty is a beautiful soul, and all are worthy to be saved.
7 Rarely indeed for a righteous will anyone die; for perhaps for the good someone would even dare to die.
Comments Romans 5:7 “Rarely indeed for a righteous ...” The sinful nature of humans would not allow them to give themselves up for anyone. The selfishness of heart wants to keep everything for themselves. Humans, even for the money, do not want to share with anyone. That is why their hearts will refuse to give themselves up for someone else.
“For perhaps for the good ...” But when someone truly does good for someone, that could make that someone do good back in return, but still not do good in return, in exchange for harm to their own skin.
8 However, God demonstrates His own love to us, that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Comments Romans 5:8 “However, God demonstrates ...” All humans give attention: the Lord God Almighty has demonstrated His own love towards humans. You are as human and can’t do anything good for yourself, but the love of the Lord God Almighty has the power to make the Lord God Almighty do good for you.
“That while we were still sinners ...” Think: with your selfishness, will you do good to anyone? But no selfishness is in the Lord God Almighty. While you were still doing wrong, the Lord God Almighty sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to die for you.
9 Much more, then, being now justified by His blood, we will be saved from the wrath by Him.
Comments Romans 5:9 “... being now justified by His blood.” God the Father, the most Holy God, for all humans, to be able to have the opportunity to think and to give needs the right and holy path. [What it really wants to say is that humans have no opportunity for the Father to think about their soul and to give mercy without the right path to enter.] With mercy, He has sent His beloved Son to help and be the bridge for human souls to walk across the river of judgment.
“We will be saved from ...” To be saved from all sins by actions and heart, one needs the pure blood of the beloved Son of God. When the soul is covered by the Holy Blood, the sins of that soul will also be covered, and in the blood, the wrath of God will be deterred.
10 For if, being enemies, we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, being reconciled, shall we be saved by His life;
Comments Romans 5:10 “... we were reconciled.” Before being washed clean by the blood (being enemies), God the Father will not consider a chance for that soul. All humans should realize what sins they have committed; those sins themselves block forgiveness. But the Lord God Almighty has mercy for every soul and provided the path for all.
“To God through the death of His Son.” For the Lord God Almighty, when looking at the soul that is covered by the blood of the beloved Son, that blood touches the Father’s heart, and His wrath subsides. The purpose of Father’s love is in the blood of His Son. To receive mercy from the Father, let all humans come and be washed in the blood of the Lamb.
“... shall we be saved by His life.” When that soul has accepted the mercy and love of the beloved Son of God, completely washed clean in the blood and water (repent and be baptized in water), it makes that soul have the opportunity to receive forgiveness.
11 and not only so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.
Comments Romans 5:11 “But we also boast in God ...” The Lord God Almighty has great mercy for all humans; through the death of His beloved Son, all men who have faith and trust will receive forgiveness.
“Through whom we have ...” Through the beloved Son of God, the Lord God Almighty accepts His petition for a soul. A chance of forgiveness for that soul has been reconciled through the Holy Blood.
12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin; also, thus death passed to all men, for that all sinned;
Comments Romans 5:12 “Therefore, just as through one man ...” One man’s disobedience gave opportunity for all men to die. The Lord God Almighty had given all commandments and directions. Follow, and the soul will not die.
“Also, thus death passed to all men ...” The first man who sinned against the commandments of the Lord made the path for evil to bring death to all humans after him.
13 for until the law, sin was in the world; however, sin is not imputed, not there being a law.
Comments Romans 5:13 “for until the law, sin ...” The sin in the nature of human beings is in the world without humans noticing it. Humans do not want to admit that sin is in the world, but with the influence of the mind of darkness, they want to be the ones who can control the sin in them.
“However, sin is not imputed ...” When there is no law to point out right and wrong, that also makes humans believe with their own intelligence that sin will have no power over them and will not make them do wrong. Even inside their hearts, the Lord God Almighty has created them with the ability to know the difference between right and wrong, but the dark mind control will influence their minds to believe that they themselves have the ability to point out what is right and wrong--no need for the subconscious to guide.
14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those having not sinned after
the likeness of the transgressions of Adam, who is a type of the coming.
Comments Romans 5:14 “Nevertheless death reigned ...” The Lord God Almighty created the first man after His own likeness, and He also gave him the ability to make decisions. The free will of man is part of the human being, but the sinful nature influences the human mind to do as they please. With the mercy of the Lord God Almighty, He gave Moses to point out the Law and to remind the human mind to think and compare between following their own understanding and committing sin, or following the guidance of the Lord God Almighty to be able to avoid committing sin.
“Even over those having not sinned ...” The plan for saving humans has been provided since the beginning of the creation. And when Moses received the Law, which would link to the Savior who would come to save humans, the Lord God Almighty foresaw the end of humans, but with His mercy, He also prepared the way to save human souls. By following the Law of the Lord, the human souls will be saved.
15 But not as the trespass, so also the free gift. For if by the trespass of the one, the many died, much more did the grace of God, and the gift in the grace of the one man, Jesus Christ, abound to the many!
Comments Romans 5:15 “But not as the trespass, so ...” One person committed sin, leading many after to commit sins, but the Lord God Almighty also looks upon the hearts of humans. Some with a clean heart, but the mind has been leading them to make no difference between the commandments of the Lord God Almighty and the interpretation of men from their own understanding. But the Lord God Almighty also put in humans’ souls the ability to feel what is right and wrong; still, some, with their minds confused, lead their hearts to ignore that knowledge inside. But that one still has a chance to return. When the Lord God Almighty stirs the heart to consider, and that heart succeeds in stirring, it will lead the person to turn back and follow the voice from the Holy Spirit in their heart to follow the commandments.
“For if by the trespass of the one ...” The sin of one man leads many to follow; but the dying soul makes that person have grief inside, which will make that soul still try to find the truth of what had been taught by forefathers. The true heart that searches will find the guidance from the Lord God Almighty, which will lead that soul back to the right place.
“Much more did the grace of God ...” God the Father, with great mercy, has sent the beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to be born as a human. By the obedience of one human, many souls are led back to the right place. The forgiveness from the Holy One will come to those souls who turn back and follow the commandments.
16 And not as through one that sinned, the gift: for indeed the judgment of one unto condemnation, but the free gift of many trespasses, unto justification.
Comments Romans 5:16 “... for indeed the judgment of one ...” The mercy of the Lord God Almighty for all humans happens without human knowledge. The Lord God Almighty does not blame the rest of humanity because of the sin of a person, but not all the hearts of people accept the truth. The Lord God Almighty still wants to give love and mercy to all, if their souls want to seek and search for the truth: the truth that the Lord God Almighty has put in their hearts before they are born. Every soul is born with the knowledge in them that the Lord God Almighty is the Creator of all.
“But the free gift of many trespasses ...” “Free gift,” the Lord God Almighty, with loving patience and kindness, gives to all the free gift of knowledge, but only when the true heart, which is seeking, guides the soul to accept the free gift. All the blessings and knowledge will be stirred and occupy the soul to work to link not only the soul but the heart to come and beg for mercy. The Lord God Almighty is waiting to receive every soul that sincerely searches; when truly searching, that soul will also truly repent and beg for mercy.
17 For if, by the trespass of the one, death reigned through the one; how much more those receiving the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness, will reign in life through the One--Jesus Christ.
Comments Romans 5:17 “For if, by the trespass of the one ...” Even the mistake of one has resulted in the mistake of many, but because the clean heart has not realized the right and wrong yet, the truth that the Lord God Almighty has put in every heart before they were born. In each individual, that truth will wake up the soul to think and meditate. Everything that comes to the eyes and everything that the ears hear will make an impact on the understanding. But the soul that acknowledges and searches for the true meaning will receive the light from within and make that soul realize and take that knowledge that has been building deep down inside, which the Lord will connect to the mind to prevent that soul from falling too deeply into the sinful nature of humans themselves. We are all sinners, as sin is inherent in human nature, but it is different when the person commits the sin themselves.
“How much more those receiving ...” With great mercy, God the Father gives all humans a way to be saved, and only through this way can human souls receive mercy. He has sent His beloved Son, Jesus Christ, to come down to be the perfect sacrifice offering to glorify the Father instead of all human souls. The beloved Son of God carried the sins of the whole world, which gives all human souls a chance to be saved.
18 So, then, as through one trespass to all men, to condemnation; so also, through one act of righteousness to all men, to the justification of life.
Comments Romans 5:18 “... one trespass to all men, to condemnation.” The first man who was created committed a great sin of disobedience to the commandments, which led all humans to go in the same path and commit the great sin of disobedience.
“Through one act of righteousness to all men ...” Through the obedience of the Son of God, all humans received justification to be right again. And all humans, those souls who come and acknowledge the great mercy of the beloved Son, will receive the forgiveness of sins.
19 For as through the one man's disobedience, the many were made sinners, even so through the obedience of the One, the many will be made righteous.
Comments Romans 5:19 “For as through the one man’s disobedience ...” The sin of disobedience is like a disease, and when it occupies the mind, it will spread out like wildfire in the mind, and another mind that comes and associates with it will catch that fire. The disobedience of one mind had led the disease to spread to many minds.
“Even so through the obedience of the One ...” The Lord God Almighty sent His beloved Son, who is as gentle as calm water to cool and stop the wildfire of the disobedient mind; whoever seeks the calm, refreshing water will receive peace and proper mind in return.
20 And the law came in besides, so that the trespass might abound; but where sin abounded, grace abounded exceedingly,
Comments Romans 5:20 “And the law came in besides ...” When the commandments came, it also made the evil see opportunity to fight against. Because the evil knows it is difficult for the mind to be right and continue to keep being right, it uses the weakness of the human mind to fight against the commandments.
“But where sin abounded ...” When sin occupies the mind, at the same time, the love and mercy of the Lord Jesus will come and cover all those sins. And when that soul submits itself to be under the commandments, the victory of that soul will shine out. And the light of righteousness will spread to occupy that soul, and make another soul cannot ignore the true light: but it has to come into submission and be under the true light.
21 so that, just as sin reigned in death, so also grace reigns through righteousness unto eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Comments Romans 5:21 “So that, just as sin reigned in death.” Give attention, death in this place is not physical death. This death is the eternal death of the soul itself. The soul cannot die, but when the soul is kept in eternal darkness (hell), that is the soul’s eternal death. When the souls commit sin against the Trinity of God, that sin gives no room for the Lord God Almighty to pardon their sin.
“So also grace reigns through righteousness ...” God the Father, with great mercy and love, provides salvation through the beloved Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. The beloved Son’s grace, mercy, and obedience provide the path of righteousness for the soul that comes and is covered with His blood that was shed on the cross.
Life and faith applications. 1) True believers experience hope and peace, as the voice of prayer brings them solace. When they glorify God the Father through the beloved Son, they can feel a deep sense of peace and acceptance. 2) As true believers, we should rejoice in hardships and tribulations, knowing that these difficulties build endurance; and endurance, character; and character, hope; and this hope makes us feel the love of God in our hearts through the Holy Spirit. 3) Our boasting should not be in ourselves but in the Lord Jesus, who died for us and offers us the opportunity to find forgiveness for our souls and be reconciled with God the Father through His Holy Blood.
