The Bodily Resurrection of the Lord Jesus!
The Lord Jesus Rose in the Body
The Bible teaches clearly that the Lord Jesus was crucified (Matthew 27:33-37), died on the cross (Matthew 27:46), buried in the tomb (Matthew 27:58-60, Mark 15:42-47), and rose from the dead in the same body on the third day (Luke 24:6-9). The same body that was crucified and died and placed in the tomb came to life (John 20:27) and was taken into heaven, and Jesus in His humanity and Deity (Luke 24:51) is seated at the right hand of the Father (Mark 16:19). The bodily resurrection of the Lord Jesus is the fundamental faith of a Christian since we all believe that we will one day rise again and be together with the Lord Jesus in the new earth (Matthew 24:3, Matthew 27:52). Remember the Lord’s body never suffered decay (Acts 2:27), He rose up in His body, and His body has returned to the Father because everything is in the Father. That is why He rose up in the body to preserve the earth; the earth will melt away, and nothing will be left from this earth but the Lord Jesus’ body (Matthew 24:3, Mark 13:3-13). The Lord Jesus appeared to His disciples on many occasions and showed Himself in His resurrected body (Mark 16:12-13).
Why is the Resurrection in the Body of the Lord Jesus Important for a Christian?
For the hope of all humans, the resurrected body of the Lord Jesus becomes the main issue. Suppose the believer comes to the beloved Son of God but has no hope in the resurrection, meaning the believer’s hope in the resurrected heavenly body to rejoice with the beloved Son of God; in that case, the resurrected body of the beloved Son of God will have no meaning for that person. In the world to come, the earthly body of all humans will be gone; only one human body will be left, the human body of the beloved Son of God who is in heaven already.
For a believer, the level of faith and hope is to aim together to the one body that has resurrected, the beloved Son of God; that should be the hope of all to see. So then, when the believers go to heaven, they will all see the beloved Son of God with the scarred pierced hands and feet, and they will remember the sins of the earth, that He has taken them all in those scars with Him; all the judgment has placed on Him already; the forgiveness for humans is related to these scars He carried with Him. And that is why He is seated on the throne of God in His humanity as well.
